Time to blog

OK.... I haven't blogged for so long that Kim has buzzed me on MSN to ask if everything was OK. It's nice to know someone actually reads my blog! Hahaha... just kidding. I am so sorry. Other than my cough and cold, then the gastro (a very yukky one too) and fever, and then the cough and cold again.... and then my children also took turns doing the projectile vomits, and then my husband had the runs... we are all OK now. All the blogs I've visited, have had sick owners. So I hope everyone is on the mend.

On a good note, we have decided to go to Singapore in November for a holiday, as well as attending my brother's wedding. I am sooooo looking forward to that because I really miss home and my family and friends. I know our pockets are quite tight at the moment, but I'd rather refrain from buying scrapbooking stuff, and buy less clothing and outfits. SINGAPORE, HERE WE COME!!!! :) :) :)

On a better note, I made Ellen's birthday cake today. Her birthday is on Sunday but tomorrow is the last day of kinder for the term. We will take this cake to kinder tomorrow, and a lolly bag for each kid. I buy this magazine, Super Food Ideas regularly. In one of those issues, they had a bumper issue on Party Cakes, creatively using lollies, candy, marshmallows and all the sweet stuff, to decorate cakes. I was so inspired that I kept that magazine and vowed to make one for my daughter on her birthday. And I did. And I'm so proud of myself! LOL... Cheap everything - 2 packet cake mixes ($5), basic butter icing ($2), fruit sticks ($4 with leftovers). Well.... I did spend a bit on those flowers and butterflies which cost me about $6 but I only used two-thirds of the pack, so I'd say about $4 worth. And finally those decorative icing that comes in tiny tubes that made squeezing easy (butterflies' feelers, flower stems and the words) .... they are ingenious! I could have made them too but I couldn't be bothered with getting the colours right, and piping them from cones and so on. Ellen helped with the fruit sticks, the flowers and the butterflies, and also giving direction where she wants her name, and what colours to use. So what do you think? I missed my calling?? ROFL...

I will take more pics tomorrow at the kinder.... hopefully.

OK... that's all for now. Will blog again soon.

Long Weekend

It's a long weekend here in Melbourne (Victoria). Monday is Queen's Birthday but it's not actually the Queen's birthday. All states and territories in Australia except Western Australia (WA) celebrate "Queen's Birthday" every 2nd Monday of June. WA celebrates that day in October and even that, is not the actual Queen's birthday. Yes, don't get me started on all these non-uniform gazetted public holidays. Guess we have to go ask the old lady when exactly is she celebrating hers in England. BUT! It's a holiday here nonetheless.

I was invited to a Tupperware party last night. Some of you might know, I was a Tupperware demonstrator at one stage, mid-2004 to late-2005, I think? I did quite OK for the first 7-8 months then it just dwindled off. I think when I started scrapbooking, was when I started focusing on something different. I was probably also spending more than I was making.... typical, isn't it? LOL.... Anyway, I have never been to a Tupperware party myself as a guest. So I was really keen to go to one. Alas, my friend's party turnout wasn't that fantastic. There were only 2 guests, but we still had a lot of fun chatting, and drinking cocktails (mocktails for me) made by Sally, the demonstrator. She was very nice and easy about everything. Some demonstrators I know of, are just tight-arse hormonal cows, who are more keen on making money than making customers happy. But most of them are just brain-washed by their managers, i.e. no party, no talk, to safe guard their interests. To me, you should weigh your pros and cons. If I can give that little bit extra to get a lot more out of a customer, I would. Sometimes, a little goes a long way, sometimes it doesn't. But you win some, and you lose some. That's life. Despite of the poor turnout (lots of last minute cancellations... justifed ones though), she still had over $500 sales, hence she received quite a lot of free gifts, and still counting because those who cancelled hasn't put in their orders.

Today, we are taking the kids to see Shred the Third in the cinemas. It's going to be an "adventure" for us. We are going together with Angela (cousin of Peter's) and Brad, and their son, Zack, who is the same age as Phaedon. So 4 adults, 3 kids.... I'm not sure what it's going to be like, but like I said, it'll be an adventure.

Tonight, Peter and I are going out to dinner with our friends. We haven't gone out without the kids for a looooong time. I mean, loooooong time. I'm counting .... a year? Maybe more? And we haven't done dinners with these friends without kids EVER! Before we had ours, their children have always come with us to dinners. When we had our kids, pfftt... forget about it! I am soooo looking forward to tonight.

No plans for Sunday yet. But I know on Monday, I'm going to be staying at home with the kids cos Peter is going to watch a Footy game with Theo at the MCG. It's a traditional Queen's birthday clash between Collingwood and Melbourne.

That's the update for this weekend. I'll leave you with this song. If you like the song, Every Breath You Take by The Police (FLASHBACK!!!), and you like the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol (YES!!! You've heard it enough times on Greys Anatomy), then you OUGHT to listen to this remix. It's unlike any remix you've ever heard of. I'm not a big remix fan but this one caught my attention on the radio. The DJ obviously did a good job with it, but it's a case of love it or hate it. And I love it!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUEY AND JANE!!!!!

IT'S RUEY'S AND JANE'S birthday!!! They are BIRTHDAY SISTERS!!

What are the chances of you meeting someone in your circle of friends who has the same birthday as you?!?! Yes, somehow these 2 wonderful girls managed that. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GIRLS!!!!! We had lunch together and there was a rather massive play area at the venue, so the kids went amuck... and left us alone most of the time (BONUS!!). Look at this photo.... you think something was said here that made them laugh so hard???!!!

My mobile phone flat-lined today. How it went dead? It would have to be the most bizarre thing to happen to a mobile phone. It was, I guess, "drowned".... the most forensic term I can come up with. But it didn't go into a washing machine, nor fall into a pond. It was soaked. I had a packet of these wet wipes, the Heinz Sticky Fingers wipes in my bag. I always carry a packet of them in my bag. They smell soooo yummy, and they are thick and clean yucky fingers very well. This bag I have in my bag is fairly new. I just opened it a couple of days ago. But this packet seems to have too much of the "wet stuff", that it has leaked through the opening of the packet, into my handbag. And heaps of it too. That's how my phone "drowned". I had to remove the battery.... let it dry for a few hours. Luckily, it survived. Gosh if it had died, it would have made it to the most bizarre method of killing a phone record. What would this poor phone say to another phone in mobile heaven?!?!

Phone A: "How did you die?"
My Phone: "I drowned."
Phone A: "Oh, you poor thing..."
My Phone: "No, it's not too bad really.... at least I smell good."
Phone A: "Huh??"
My Phone: "I drowned in Heinz Sticky Fingers wipes fluid."

I'm a bit mental. Excuse me.

I did this layout for fun. I was going to enter the SC Colour Competition. By the time I finished my other commitments..... I was too late to do my layout. No plans though, just had the papers... just wanted to attempt pink/green. Now that I don't have the competition over my head, I think I just couldn't care less how it looks, just go with the flow. This is the outcome.

Anyway.... that's it for now. I need to go hug my phone.
