Banished my daughter!
This is post is not for the faint-hearted or the bleeding hearts.
My daughter got into A LOT of mischief yesterday. Yesterday in the afternoon, while Peter and I were watching a movie on TV, she did a whole lot of "destructive art"... if they even qualify as art!
1. She went into the bathroom and took out 2 pots of lip gloss from my drawer and practically did colour tests on her pair of jeans (like you would on your hand when trying out lipsticks).
2. She went into the study which she knows she is not allowed to, took out a black texter which she ALSO knows she is not allowed to, and drew on her brother's doona cover, which penetrated onto his doona, drew on his bead post, and on one of our drawers in the study.
3. While she was in the bathroom, she also took some hair gel and applied onto her hair, which I didn't realise until this morning while I was combing her hair.
My blood boiled beyond boiling point. It wasn't so much of the cleaning up or washing I had to do. But the fact that she actually did something like this. It was not just innocent mischief because if it was innocent, the child will just come up to you and show off their "creation" and smile! But while I was watching the movie, I asked her a few times...eg where she was... what she was doing... etc etc. She just lied and said "I'm just lying in bed" or "I'm just going to the toilet". And then she also made frequent appearances in the lounge room to play with the brother too... like forming an alibi!
When I finally went into their bedroom to fold up the laundry, I was horrified to see what had happened to her jeans! I asked her what happened, she said her brother did wee-wee on her pants. I sternly told her to fess up .... and she quickly did.
She copped a double time out straight up. I was so worked up and upset it was beyond comprehension. I had to walk out of the room before I did anything I'll regret. Then I concocted more punishment. After her time out, I told her she will not get anymore TV for the rest of the day. AND the ultimate punishment for her, she was not to talk to me or be near me for the rest of the day. This made her cry. I had to show her how disappointed I was at her behaviour. And time outs and no-TV just don't quite cut it. At bedtime, she was prompted by Daddy to come apologise to me.
Today, I COULDN'T WAIT to send her off to kinder ..... banished! But luck was not on my side. She didn't want to stay at kinder. I took her there and left her like any other day. Everything was fine and the teacher rang me in less than 1/2 hour cos she told them, "I just want my mommy." So I went and picked her up, giving her the benefit of the doubt. As soon as she got home, she was running up and down the hall way... and I questioned her... why she didn't want to stay at the kinder, guess what she said? "Cos I wanted to play with Phaedon!" ... without batting an eyelid.
So for all those still reading, you still feel sorry for her?
I rest my case.

sometimes they just get a little devil inside them that just tells them to do things!!! :o)
im glad you stuck to the punishment they are better for it in the long run. because i work for the child care agency i see so many children that clearly aren't disciplined at home because it is 'easier' to just let them go without having to deal with tantrums. parent's these days are destroying their children by the things they are exposed to and basically by lack of effort. as mums 'good mums' we do what we have to do. congratulations.
:)
Oh yeah I feel sorry for her!! LOL Nah, gees they can be little buggers can't they.. I have a similar model at home.. must have been a bad batch that was made! ;) LMAO
oh hugs hun, hope the day got better, cheeky monkey
o0o wah lil naughty miss, I loved the double time out, I would have needed that long too :D
Came over from m4m. I guess kids do this ever so often to make you tear your hair out.
My 4yr old is trying to discipline the little one; 18mths, by acting like us taking things away from her and giving her a reason and all but the little one is screaming the whole day because I cannot keep her sister from doing that.
I need Patience.
Oh dear!! It's hard not to get mad when you know they have done naughty things quite deliberately. Like you I hate it when my daughter lies to me. That bugs me more than anything. I hope things get better.
Alison
LOL Mich i can understand!!
Been there!! That had past, i'm dealing with a teen to be now...eeks
Hope you are ok...hugs...:-D
Oh Mich! Naughty naughty girl! And you want me to make her a Miss Molly? Are you a crazy woman?! :P
I will see what I can do about Miss Molly :)
And just to make you feel better, sometimes Bella is just as cunning!
Mich, there are *SOME* days when kids are just beyond our comprehension and we have to grit our teeth and hope it's a non-permanent phase. You are not alone ~ there are times when I don't want to talk to my girls either and have learnt to cut myself some slack, that it's ok to get mad when it's them testing boundaries with some awful attitude or not remembering to be thankful for stuff they have. You are setting limits, the toughest parenting skill every !
Hmmm... she must be taking lessons from my youngest! Don't you just love the way they have that whole alibi aspect sussed! NOT! ;)
Good on you for sticking to your guns.
Hope today's a better day!
kids huh !
oh!{hug} glad you walk out before you did anything you might regret later.
I know you gotten kill me for this, but she is so cute...
can't stop smiling while reading it, could felt the "heat" from your side.
just wonder what would I will do if mine did that to me.. I think I will be that step-mom from hell.. ;p
